Last week our good friend and fellow NOOB Cole Patterson left on his mission. He will spend a few weeks at the Provo MTC before heading out to the Berlin Germany mission. We love you Cole and will miss you tons. If you would like to write Cole while he is in the MTC you can reach him at the address below. I will continue to update with Cole's new addresses so that you can continue to write him while he is in the field. Go get 'em, Cole!

In honor of the NOOB's favorite holiday, I decided to post my top 10 picks for scary movies. These are the films that I consider to be essential so if you've missed any on this list then you definitely need to catch yourself up! Hope you like it! Feel free to post your thoughts on your own favorites!
10. The Last Exorcism (2010)- Although this is the most recent movie on the list, it has definitely earned its place. This film will give you that unsettling feeling in your gut and have you scared all the way through, not to mention and ending that will stick with you for days. Check it out at the dollar theater this Halloween. You won’t be disappointed.
9. A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)- A child murderer seeks revenge on the children of those who killed him. Horribly burned and wielding knives on his fingers, Freddy Krueger terrorizes teens in their dreams. Although this one is pretty old it has some very frightening moments. Don’t watch it alone!
8. The Strangers (2008)- Another more recent film, The Strangers will have you hiding under your bed by the time it’s over. Locking all the doors and windows in your house won’t make you feel safe after seeing this. It will give you that paranoid feeling that you are being watched. You won’t sleep alone after watching this.
7. The Thing (1982)- This movie that features a shape-shifting alien has some of the craziest special effects ever in a movie. They just don’t make ‘em like this anymore. Not only is this an awesome creature feature, it has some great suspense as well. This movie is a classic and should not be missed. Check it out this year!
6. The Ring (2002)- Although you’ve probably seen this one too many times and it’s lost some of its effect, you can probably recall your first time seeing it and how terrified you were. This is easily one of the scariest movies ever made.
5. The Exorcist (1972)- A landmark in the horror genre, this film about a sweet little girl becoming possessed by a demon and the priest that tries to help her is ridiculously scary. Watch it at your own risk.
4. The Descent (2005)- Six women become trapped in an unmapped cave during a spelunking trip and soon find that they are not alone. This film is extremely intense. Not only does it give you the claustrophobic feeling that you are in a dark spooky cave with them, it also has some of the scariest, most aggressive and violent flesh eating monsters ever seen on film. This film will make you afraid of the dark again.
3. Saw (2004)- Two strangers wake up chained up inside of a dirty bathroom with no recollection of how they got there. They soon realize that that they are victims in the notorious “Jigsaw” killer, a madman who puts his victims in dangerous life or death games. With time running out, the two men must uncover the secret to their survival before it’s too late. Although the title may be off-putting to some, there is a great story beneath the gore. This one is full of suspense and will have you biting your nails the whole way through.
2. Alien (1979)- A team of space miners are awakened from hyper sleep to answer a distress signal on a distant planet and bring something horrible back with them. This is the ultimate create feature. A highly intelligent and aggressive alien being stalks and picks of the crew of this dark, creepy space ship one by one. Pick this one up on Halloween for a guaranteed scare.
1. The Shining (1980)- This classic re-imagining of a Stephen King novel is a must for the Halloween season. A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future. This is an iconic film in horror cinema and is one that will haunt you for days after you watch it.

It was NOOB tradtition to support our favorite bands by going to their shows. On numerous occasions we were at the Clubhouse or Marquee for groups such as The Rocket Summer, Mae Relient K etc. This last week, the world lost a great band and one that many of the NOOBS held especially dear. Copeland was a band that many of us grew up listening to and followed very closely. They were personally my favorite band and I had the privilege of spreading their music to the rest of the NOOBS. It was great to see them play one last time and to hear some of my favorites live. R.I.P. Copeland, you will be missed.
Opening band Deas Vail performing. They were good! Check them out.
Direct Support Ace Enders with his solo project I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business They were even better! Check them out.
And finally... Copeland. They played an awesome last show. I was lucky enough to catch the set list after the show too. It was a great experience.
Hey! Sky and Nick are engaged! Because this is still the NOOB blog they will now be posting on a separate web site to keep the integrity of the original blog intact. If you wish to follow Nick and Sky you can do so at http://weddingpreparty.social.onewed.com/site/skylar-nick. Thanks!
The first of the NOOB's returned yesterday! It was a great and emotional day for everyone. We're so excited to have Chris back and we're looking forward to all the good times ahead!
